Ok im pretty sure there is gonna be some spoilers in this, so if you havent seen and maybe plan on it... stop reading
Let me start out by just saying this movie is... whats the word.... oh yeah... God Awful (fine 2 words). I consider myself a Nick Cage fan and i love Rose Byrne on the TV show Damages. But even going into this movie with hope and expectations, couldnt save it. Near the end of this movie for a fleeting moment i contemplated a murder suicide plot on myself and the friend i took to see this cause i no longer wanted to live in a world where this movie existed and i knew my friend felt the same way cept she didnt have the heart to end it all and i would have done it...for the both of us.
Specifics:
We start out with alcoholic single dad whom we dont really like... nor do we dislike him... he's just sort of a guy... in a movie... whom we have no particular connection too... but he's there... he's always there. We're immediately shown that he maybe possibly probably was a fully engaging lively productive member of society, because he is a professor at MIT. And he was married and presumably had sex with this woman, they have a son after all. But he is clearly broken, we're not told why right away, but guessing isnt that hard.
